Generations of Experience
The family business started operating in the spring of 1999 in Tartumaa, where strawberry, raspberry and sea buckthorn plantations were established on reclaimed farm land
Our Story
In the early years we lacked knowledge, and the researchers of the Estonian University of Life Sciences were a great help, teaching us what to plant and how. Over time, we have gained a lot of experience and skills that we now use in our everyday work.
Today we focus mainly on growing sea buckthorn, but we also use other well‑known vitamin‑rich berries in our products – blackcurrant, aronia, blueberry and cranberry. Our first sea buckthorn product was sea buckthorn jam, created in 2004, which is still in our range and much loved by customers. Later our selection expanded to include pure juices, berry powders and sea buckthorn mulled drink.
In 2013 we launched a product that offers a pleasant boost for every day in a convenient package – Semu sea buckthorn nectar. The very first batch was produced on a meaningful date, 14 February 2013, which we now celebrate as Semu Day. In the Estonian Best Food Product 2014 competition, an esteemed jury awarded Semu sea buckthorn nectar 2nd place among small enterprises in Northern Estonia.
Today, the third generation is already helping to develop the family business – the work started by the grandparents is being continued by their children and grandchildren.
